It has been too long! 245 days have passed since the time that I last posted on here and honestly, I’ve missed it. Things have been HECTIC! Life has shifted so much and there have been multiple levels of transition and elevation and growth. So since things have changed so much since our last interaction and for those that don’t know, allow me to reintroduce myself.
I am Celena MARTIN, a young black woman, wife, doula, birth advocate, and volleyball coach. I started this blog in 2018 as a casual writer and just wanting to share my space and experiences. At the start of 2020, I started writing full time and had a chance to learn and grow into young womanhood and entrepreneurship. Although I stopped writing publicly in June of 2021, I have tried hard to continue to write privately. Not long after I stopped writing, I started my venture into birthwork. I am now a certified birth and postpartum doula and actively working towards other birth related certifications. Now, here we are, Feb. 2022, and I am on a mission to combine the two journeys.
In this space where my two paths meet, I plan to continue to empower and educate people. As a black birthworker, I am revitalizing this site to cater to those who have been here and those who are coming. I’m excited to pair these two career ventures together; to offer encouragement and support to even more people, to answer questions and provide information, to build a safe space and contribute to the comfort and trust of those in this community. I love being a doula, I love being a writer, and now I am loving the thought of doing both of these things together.
